Mandy-Jayne Lace is a qualified, experienced special needs and learning difficulties teacher, and founded YELL SOS she is a trustee. She’s also willing to talk to anyone; so long the appointment can be fitted into her REALLY busy schedule. Many clients who come in seeking YELL SOS’s services will most likely see other staff (when Mandy is busy, which is often the case!). John and the team manage clients needs, on a day-to-day basis. All are knowledgable in form filling, speaking up for others by telephone and letter/email and are the friendly faces who go above and beyond to support clients.
John supports the admin team in their work. YELL SOS’s office staff; Martin, Andrea, Maria, John, Alex and Anja support one another in an admin capacity. Andrea comes from a care management background, Maria is completing her training as a Social Worker, Anja is a trainee Counsellor and John has years of experience dealing with mental health problems and the benefits required when poor mental health is experienced individually, or within a family.
Carolyn and Lenny are YELL SOS’s lead counsellors and Mandy-Jayne is a trained counsellor and busy developing our accreditation with the professional bodies of which we are already a member. Ross is a volunteer and trustee and brings a hugely practical aspect to the organisation and he has already provided fitting of CCTV for a vulnerable client, grab rails, and many other practical hands on support as well as sitting alongside other autistic clients in accessing the support services they require. Alex comes from a music production and theatre performance background and is a trained teacher.
These backgrounds combining educational, theraputic, counselling and practical support make a huge difference to people who access the service. A number of volunteers who act as admin assistance, such as Tim and Ria, quickly becoming adept at dealing with referrals for counselling, all the paperwork, processing and record-keeping that goes with that, as well as making good coffee!
